ALLIECE SADIE McCUBBING

Sadie Alliece (Matheson) McCubbing

October 28, 1926 - September 29, 2020

Alliece was born in Saskatoon and grew up on a dairy farm just outside of the city.  Her schooling led her into the field of teaching, but early on in her career met Roy McCubbing, to which they wed and moved to the family farm in Unity. Together over the years, Alliece and Roy became lifelong partners at home and in the workplace as she ran the Sears Catalogue Store alongside Roy’s Barber Shop.  

Alliece was an active member of the community with the Lioness, Rebecca’s and the United Church Women.  She cherished many close friendships, especially those from her cribbage, bridge and birthday clubs where she could be heard laughing and sharing a funny story or two.  Alliece enjoyed spending time with her family while at the lake camping, fishing, hiking or boating. Sharing special celebrations with her grandchildren soon became the highlight of her life where she could be seen decorating gingerbread houses or going on Easter egg hunts. Alliece lived a full and happy life to the very end and with absolutely no regrets. Love, laughter, family and close friendships contributed to Alliece’s long and beautiful life.

Left to celebrate her memory are her children Hazel, Ian (Shelley), Ray (Shelly), grandchildren Christopher (Claire), Jonathan (Farrah), Lauren, Cady, Macy, Jack, great-grandson Braxton, as well as a community of life-long friends and family.

Alliece’s ashes will be laid to rest with her best friend and love of her life, Roy McCubbing.

Interment to take place on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm, Pleasant View Cemetery, Unity Saskatchewan.   Please wear a mask and honour physical distancing guidelines. Should you wish to sit, please bring a lawn chair.
