Alfred Darryl Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl Smith in Biggar, SK at the age of 69. Darryl was born on March 16, 1953 in Belleville, Ontario before moving to Biggar when he was three years old. Darryl worked as a railroad engineer with CN and then VIA before retiring after 34 years of service. His passions were spending time with his family, summers at the cabin, restoring his 1949 Mercury truck, projects around the house, helping others, running, fishing, noon hockey, golf, and working / skiing at Argo Bush. He was a longstanding member of the Kinsmen and the Masonic Lodge. Darryl passed after a 19-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Darryl is survived by his wife of 48 years, Laura; his three sons: Daniel (Medea) and their children Emery and Karsten; Derek and his child Charlie; and Michael (Emilee) and their children Weston, Griffin, Sterling, Stella; 
his sisters Cheryl (Marty) and Monica (Blair); and his many nieces and nephews. 

Darryl was predeceased by his parents Edward and Aileen, parent-in-laws Calvin and Nettie Beebe, 
and granddaughter Mathilde. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Biggar Majestic Theatre or the New Horizon’s Courtesy Car.
