It is with very sad hearts the family of Dorothy Bojarski announces her passing on January 27, 2022.
Dorothy was born on July 11, 1944 and was raised in Wilkie. She graduated from McLurg High School which is the namesake of her grandfather Dr. Robert Alvin McLurg, the first doctor in Wilkie.
She met and married Larry Bojarski on November 21, 1964.
They had four children Tish, Allan, Susan and Heather.
After eleven years of marriage Dorothy and Larry parted ways in 1975. Dorothy and her children remained in Wilkie and she continued to raise them in the family home.
Dorothy was a hairdresser until it was interfering with her health and then she worked in the McLurg High School as a Teacher's Aid. She loved working at the school with the kids. After her mom passed away she moved to Saskatoon and worked as a health care worker for WeCare. She retired from this but couldn't relax and take it easy, she helped out a friend who had a similar traumatic event happen. Each of their sons committed suicide. She cared for him up until she went into the hospital. Dorothy struggled with COPD and contracted MAC disease. The doctors say she may have had it for a very long time, even years. She was so run down and there were so many complications that her body couldn't fight to get well again.
Dorothy's main love of her life were her children and grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for them. She followed them everywhere and tried to make life wonderful for them. Family get togethers were a must and she was adamant that everyone be there. She did not like getting her picture taken and that is true but her phone is full of pictures of her family, especially her grandchildren. One of her projects on the go before she went into the hospital was making photo books of each of her grandchildren. Dorothy also had many friends long and far but she had a special group of friends in Wilkie and Saskatoon. They always made sure to get together for a birthday breakfast or lunch. The Saskatoon bunch always met at Cora's. One of mom's most cherished times in her life was getting to visit one of her longest and dearest friends growing up Lynn Otty in Scotland. Another dearly loved friend is Paulette, who has been by her side through many good times and rough times.
Dorothy had an amazing love and trust in God. Her kids remember her always saying “Let Go and Let God”, “Give it to God in prayer”, “You'll know you're on the right track because the road will be paved” and “If you pray why worry and if you worry why pray”. Her life was not an easy one but she always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone she met. She worked hard at giving her kids a life like their friends. They got to go shopping for a new outfit for school every Fall, take part in all the school activities, and she stayed up late waiting for them to come home on a Friday or Saturday night. When her children moved away from home she always made sure to ask them to text her when they got home. She enjoyed figure skating and was involved in a seniors skating group. They even had a performance at one of the Farmers Days in Wilkie. She loved judging figure skating competitions in various communities Heather and Susan were involved in. She also made sure to get us to piano lessons. Dorothy was an avid artist. She would paint pictures on her salon windows every Christmas. Usually Precious Moments Holy Family. Sometimes she painted pictures on the hospital windows like her mom did when she was working as a nurse there. Her mom had a cabin at Meota and we loved going there every summer. She loved it there and we have many wonderful memories of family gatherings and get togethers with friends. Cursing and bad words were not allowed in our house! Mom stood by this so much that she chased her son around with the dish soap to wash his mouth out when he said a bad word. She always caught him too until he got to big and fast for her to catch.
Her guidance to follow the Lord was instilled in all of her children at a young age. This is a foundation that has grounded them and given them love for and trust in God wherever they were and always carries them through difficult times.
