Edna Marie Jensen was born December 31, 1926 in the family home at Superb, Sask to Oluf Jensen and Elvira Liddicoat Jensen. She was the middle child of seven. She attended school in the Victory district country school and in the high school in Major, Sask, then she took a secretarial course at the St. Joseph's Convent School in Rosetown.

She loved to read and learned to knit from her father. She milked cows, fed calves, tramped haystacks, stooked, pitched sheaves, and shoveled grain. She lived through the dirty 30's and WWII.

On November 26,1947, she married Charles Henry Sloman of Major Sask and they moved into the house that her in - laws had built when they homesteaded the farm in 1911. Farm life suited Edna and she spent many hours tending her large gardens, her poultry flocks and helping with the farm work. She loved to do needlework and she made many quilts, knitted sweaters, crocheted tablecloths and crocheted bedspreads that she gave away to her relatives. Her treadle sewing machine sewed clothes and repaired canvases for the machinery. In later years, she enjoyed camping, fishing, scrabble, cribbage or a good puzzle. 

Edna and Henry had three children, Gloria , Vernon, and Roger. She encouraged them throughout their younger years to complete homework, finish chores and pull all the big weeds including the thistles. When things weren't going as desired she would say "Have faith in God, it will work out". And it always did.

In 1965, they moved to the Hans Jensen farm at Unity and retired into the town of Unity in 1992. Here she added long walks to her activities and could often be seen walking around town. In 2004 her husband passed away and in 2008 her home burned. The insurance company provided another home and her 4 grandchildren gave her 4 great grandchildren. However dementia became an increasing problem and in 2014 she moved into the Poplar Courts Nursing Home in Wilkie where she spent her final years.

Edna was predeceased by her parents in 1979 and all her siblings, Elsie Hoffman, Violet Leyborne, Ethel Monsell, Grace Krachy, Lorene Jensen and Martin Jensen and son - law Duwayne Baxter. Mourning her loss are daughter Gloria Baxter and children Wayne [Leah] and Ryan, son Vernon [Dianne] and children Lisa [Mike] and Dustin [Angela] and son Roger. Also four great grand children, Joshua and Julia Baxter, Anne Irwin, and Eliana Sloman, and many nieces and nephews. 

Mom would never say good-bye so this is until we meet again. I will know her, she will have a big smile.
