Elsie Lillian Rofe Obituary

October 2 1937- April 10 2025
Elsie was born to Fred and Katie Dudiak on October 2 1937 (youngest of 8 children), in Hines Creek Alberta and passed away on April 10 in Biggar Saskatchewan. She was fortunate to live in her own home up until her final days, as she wished.
She came to Saskatchewan in the mid 50’s with her sister Barb, where she met her beloved Bill Rofe in the Biggar area. Together they purchased a small farm in 1963 where Debbie and Mark were raised until they moved into town in 1975/76.
Elsie was a prairie girl at heart; she was proud to be from the prairies and would mention so in many conversations. Elsie talked fondly about the farm, gardening, and going fishing with Bill including the record Sturgeon she caught. Around 1975 she started working at Diamond Lodge in housekeeping and in the kitchen for 20 years until her retirement in the late 90’s. At the beginning of her retirement she took care for Bill. Later in her retirement years she enjoyed attending music festivals, traveling with friends and family and going to the casino, in which she seemed to have copious amounts of luck at.
Elsie also had a great passion for baking, cooking and gardening. If you went to visit there was always a treat on the counter whether it was cake or pickling that she made from what she grew in her garden.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Andy) Leclerc, Step daughter Moreen Drabble Grand Children: Dawn (John) Thompson, Michael Leclerc (Cal), Angela (Rick) Olsen, Great Grand Children: Colton Thompson, Hailey and Brooklynn Olsen. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by Bill Rofe spouse, Mark Rofe son, and siblings Alex, Mary, Nick, Ann, Dorothy, Kay and Barb.
Family are respecting Elsie’s wishes that she did not want to have a funeral or memorial.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Diamond Lodge recreation program.
