George De Bussac Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of George de Bussac announces his passing surrounded by his loving wife Ann and his 4 children on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.

George was born in St. Margarets Hospital in Biggar on January 12th, 1952, to Charles and Yolande de Bussac. He was welcomed by sisters Cathy and Marie-Hélène and later by brothers Daniel, Jack and Charles. There were many good times growing up on 5th avenue East with siblings, cousins and friends who gathered often at 209.

George's first career was as an orderly at St. Margaret's Hospital in Biggar, then at the Misericordia in Edmonton. His love for all things cars drew him to a job at Fountain Tire in Edmonton. After some time, the opportunity arose to buy the tire shop in Biggar. He spent the next 40 years serving the community and area and making many lifelong friends. George had an infectious smile, a great sense of humor and a kind, generous heart. He had a passion for classic cars and like his father before him, bought and sold several during his lifetime.

He started the annual Classic Car Show in Biggar, which attracted many collectors from near and far. It was THE event to come to every June and grew to include live music, food, beer gardens and much fun. Proceeds always went to worthy causes like Kidsport and the Food Bank.

When George and Ann retired, they did some travelling to the States, camping, dog/cat sitting across Canada and beyond. They were custodians at the Central Park Condos for the past 8 years, where they were greatly appreciated by the residents! George also drove the courtesy car and helped many seniors with whatever they needed, especially his 2 grateful sisters who will miss him dearly. George leaves to mourn his dear wife Ann, son Jason (Jennifer), daughters Jade (Chris) Clara and Kaylee; Ebani and son Dylan, Lisa (Kyle) Kael; Stepsons Harley (Care) Keith, and Sam (Melanie); his sisters Cathy Donahue, Marie-Hélène Debert, brothers Daniel (Donna-Lynne), Jack (Nancy), Charles (Sherri), special cousin Denny de Bussac and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

George was predeceased by his parents Charles and Yolande de Bussac, son Joseph, nephew Justin de Bussac, brother-in-laws Darryl Debert and Bryan Donahue, and numerous aunts and uncles here and in France.

To honour George's passion for classic cars, family and friends are invited to arrive at the service in their classic vehicles, celebrating a passion that brought him so much joy.
