Helen passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2025 at the age of 92. She is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Nahorney; son Lorne (Colete), and daughter Valerie (Paul). Helen leaves behind her sisters Bernice and Rose and their spouses, daughters Eleanor (Ken), Jeanette (Mike), and sons Mike (Darlene) and Steven (Joanne) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen was born March 19th, 1933 to parents Steve and Mary Lahucik. She would grow up on a farm not far from North Battleford. She had a great love for school and reading, but left education early to help take care of her family.
In August of 1952 Helen married Bill Nahorney and settled on a farm in the RM of Glenside. There she was always busy, be it with taking care of animals, tending to a large garden, helping neighbours or helping with catering. Although she did recall how happy she was when the children had moved and they no longer had any dairy cows. Helen and Bill would move to North Battleford in their later years. She would also join TOPS, which took her on some once in a lifetime trips.
Helen was always one to step up to help her family, friends, neighbours and community. She greatly enjoyed attending church, gardening, reading, baking and cooking. Her favourite recipes will be passed down through many generations. She was known to stay up to date, being a dedicated listener, viewer and reader of all forms of news.
Helen’s family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the staff at the Biggar Long Term Care for not just taking such great care of Helen, but for welcoming her into their hearts as well.
She will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Biggar Long Term Care Centre.
