Jacob was the oldest of 10 siblings. As a small child he was a bit mischievous, as one time he and his brothers Frank and Jordon rode their new bicycles down the basement stairs, just to see if they could.
Jacob married Clara Ducherer on April 10, 1949 at Revenue, SK. They grain farmed and raised a large number of pigs on their farm south east of Wilkie. In 1979 they moved to Wilkie. After Clara's passing Jacob took up making rosaries and sold hundreds of them over the course of 15 years.
Jacob spoke German, English and another colourful language, which the grandchildren picked up very quickly. If Grandpa can say it…so, can we! Music was a big part of his life. He loved to dance, especially a good, fast polka. He played the electric organ for years, often accompanied by his brother Jordon on banjo.
Jacob was a Mr. Fix It. He was an excellent mechanic. His work ethic was second to none. In town he grew a large garden and had a greenhouse and orchard.
