Joan Marie Berglund (nee Polsfut)

Joan Marie Berglund (nee Polsfut) was born on February 15, 1937 in the height of the depression at Biggar, SK as the eldest daughter of Ferdinand and Hazel Polsfut.

She grew up in the Wilson Lake area and obtained a grade seven education at Elwell and Wilson Lake Schools. While growing up along with going to school she helped with raising her younger brothers and sisters. When Joan left home, she worked as a waitress and did housekeeping work.

In the early 1960’s Joan met Francis (Frank) Berglund.  They were married in the United Church in Biggar on October 27, 1961.

They had three children from the union of their marriage, Clinton, Kerry and Dirk. They resided in the Sonningdale community. In the mid 1970’s, she moved to Biggar where she resided for the rest of her life, where she finished raising her children and took part in the care of her grandchildren until they were grown.

She took great pleasure in her family members taking her for coffee and meal outings and city trips.

She will be remembered by her family for her sharp wit and her sense of the realities of life.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Hazel Polsfut (1987), Ferdinand (Vern) Polsfut (1996) husband Frank H. Berglund (1985), and her second son Kerry (2010), her brothers Lloyd (2007), and Gary (2018).

Joan is survived by her sons Clinton (Lynn) and Dirk, grandchildren Garrett (Heidi), Tyrel (Lia), Matt (Karen), Alyssa, and great grandchildren, Lincoln, Emma, and Blair, brothers Lawrence, Leonard (Eunice), Don (Kathy), Ben, sisters Barbara Berglund (Polsfut)and Marlene Fournier.

We wish to thank God for our Mother’s life for she was the foundation builder in our lives morally and spiritually. Into God’s, Dad’s, and Kerry’s hands, we leave her perpetual care.

A Public Commemorative Tea will be held on

Saturday, January 29, 2022 - 1:00 – 4:00 pm

for all extended family, friends of the family and those who new and shared in Joan's life.
