John Brandle Obituary
John Brandle was born at Scott, Sask on October 18, 1924. He had 8 siblings: Steve, Ann, Adam, Erma, Nelson, Pete Helen and Ed. He attended school north of Tramping Lake at Queensview school. When John was in Grade 8, his father suddenly passed away at only 48 years of age. He had to quit school to help his mother as there were still 6 siblings at home. He went farming with his older brother Adam.
In 1944 he met Sophie Hoffart, and they were married in 1948. They had 5 children: Lorraine, Pat, Richard, Trudy and Darrel. They have many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They celebrated many anniversaries as they were married 68 years.
John was an elevator agent in 1950 for 2 years until the elevator was sold. John and Sophie then bought a farm north of Tramping Lake where they farmed for 57 years.
John played the saxophone and in 1945 together with his brothers they formed the “Brandle’s Orchestra”. The band played many dances over the years all over Saskatchewan and into Alberta. They recorded an album of their music as well. They played for 45 years until 1990 when the band retired.
John was an active member in his community. He was in the church choir for nearly 40 years at St. Michael’s Parish in Tramping Lake. He was on the school board, the telephone board and the Credit Union board.
John helped all their children many times over the years. He was also a great musician, a carpenter and a wonderful cook.
John and Sophie retired from farming in 2004 when they bought a home and moved to Unity, SK. In August of 2016 Sophie sadly passed away. After this, John continued to cook many more delicious meals for the children and grandchildren when they gathered in Unity for Christmas, Easter and many occasions.
John will be dearly missed and leaves to mourn his daughter Lorraine (Murray) Mullin and their children: Curtis, (Cristina) Mullin and their children Sierra and Grady, Cheryl (Steve Pashley) Mullin and their children Kyla and Naomi; Corey (Michelle) Mullin and their children Keira and Kai; his son Patrick (Deborah) Brandle and their children: Tia (Darren) Klassen and their child, Colbie; Scott (Kacy) Brandle and his children, Grayson, Dominick and Willa, stepsons Holden Jewell and Evan Jewell; his son Richard (Cynthia) Brandle and their children: Jared, Jordan (Curtis) their children Josh and Kyan and stepsons Shaun Leipert and Derrek Leipert and great grandchildren through Shaun (Jeannette) Damon, Lucas, Phillipp, Jenaya, and Noah. Through Derrek (Elva and stepdaughter Kalley) and son Kostyn, his daughter Trudy (Joe) Wagner, and his son Darrel (Roxanne) Brandle and their children Lauren (Mason) and Eric.
His brother Ed (Ursula) Brandle; and his sister-in law Lillian (Bob) Reiter and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: wife Sophie, brother Steve (Helen) Brandle, sister Ann (Tom) MacIntosh, brother Adam (Kay) Brandle, sister Erma (Mike) Gerein, brother Nelson (Mary) Brandle, brother Peter (Anne) Brandle, sister Helen (Sam) Kupser.
