Joyce was born at the Biggar Union Hospital on March 18, 1935 to Weno and Vlasta Fast. She had one brother George who was three years older. They lived on a farm one mile west of Oban.

Joyce went to Oban School to grade 10. After she left school she worked at Biggar Union Hospital as a Nurse- aide for two years.  Then she met the love of her life Ron Colbert and they married on April 23, 1954. The lived on the farm near Oban. They farm the land, raised cattle, pigs and chickens.

On February 1966 they adopted their son Edward and a year later they adopted Rhonda, that was their family.

Joyce enjoyed helping Ron with the farming.  In the fall they would bale hay, straw ect.  In the middle of 1980 she started  to raise white turkeys , it was a big job to butcher them and get them ready to sell.

Ron passed away on May 5, 1998. Joyce sold the farm and moved into Biggar on November 1, 1998. She still enjoyed gardening.

A year after she moved into Biggar she started to travel.  She would go to Toronto to visit her friend Sarah Budnick and her husband Walter.

Joyce enjoyed carpet bowling and Kaiser at the New Horizons and would do fundraisers they had. Joyce also did homecare, helping with cleaning houses etc. She had a great impact on the community.

Joyce got the travel bug and took bus tours, which she really enjoyed.  She went to Hawaii, New York, Nashville, Branson, Florida, Boston, she went to most of the states and the Yukon.  She went to Western Canada and Eastern Canada all on Canada bus tours. She will surely be missed by all her family and friends.
