Our beautiful Mom, Joyce Elizabeth Reiber (nee Clark) passed away on a warm spring evening, May 30, 2025 with family by her side.
Mom was born November 25, 1925 in their family farmhouse just east of Cactus Lake, SK. She attended a nearby country school and when she was 10, her family moved to the ‘big house on the hill’ in Cactus Lake and lived there until 1944 when she married our Dad, Art (Artie) Reiber.
Mom told us that her and Dad continued living with her parents for about a year as times were tough and money was tight. Eventually they moved to their own home (2 rooms) in Hearts Hill. When Dad’s parents moved from the farm in the Hearts Hill area into Luseland, Mom and Dad were thrilled to take over the farm and begin their lives together.
Over the next 14 years, Mom and Dad raised six kids (oh, the stories we can tell), farmed, curled, and enjoyed being a part of the community. We truly don’t remember ever seeing Mom sitting down (except maybe to watch Another World). She was one of the hardest working person we know, and that strength and determination stayed with her to the very end.
Our family moved to Luseland in 1977 when Dad finished building our new home. While it was an adjustment for all of us, including Mom, she kept busy with things like ceramics, macrame, crochet, bingo, afternoon coffee with Josie and Stella, and making our house a warm and loving home. She hosted countless family dinners with Aunts and Uncles, grandkids, and cousins filling the house with laughter, food, and fun.
Mom suffered a couple broken hips which resulted in her move to Saskatoon in 2019. She enjoyed living at The Bentley for a few years until she needed just a little more help and in 2022, moved into Cedar Gardens Care Home where she was loved and well cared for by their amazing staff until her passing.
A special thank you to her niece, Myrna, for being such a great friend to Mom (Aunty Joyce or AJ) and a wonderful part of our love and support team for Mom.
We will all miss Mom’s quick wit and contagious smile.
Mom is survived by her son Rick (Donna); son Collin (Lana); daughter Tracy (Peter); son Terry (Alberta) and many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by husband Art; daughter Bev; son Gord; brothers George, Gordon, and Gerald; sisters June, JoAnne, and Doris.
As per Mom’s wishes, there will be no funeral, and she will be laid to rest beside our Dad in Luseland with close family members in attendance.
