Karen Ann Ubell (Eriksen) was born in Biggar to Otto and Ada Eriksen (Cox) on June 20, 1935. The Eriksen's farmed in Monarch School District where mom and her sisters, Carol+, Gerda (Ray), Bev (Ken) and Myrna+ attended school. Mom went on to Teachers College and got a job at Heiland School. One of the school board members who hired her was a handsome young farmer from the area and the rest is history.
Mom married Dad (Adolph Ubell) on July 19, 1955. They were a hard working farm couple who soon had a family of eight children:
Greg (Sylvia) and their children, Kelcey (Natalie), Connor (Pam) and Keegan (Alex); Ted (Donna) and his daughter Gemma; Deb (John); Clark+ (Jan) and their children, Kim (Aaron) and Brad; Laurie (Rachel); Dianne (Clayton) and their children Cole (Brittney) and Brittany (Darlind); Barry and his children, Stephanie (Robin), Dustin (Shawna), Tamara, Jordan and Lucas+; Mike (Joanne) and their daughter Hanna (Ty).
They also have 11 great grandchildren: Vincent, Ylaina, Weston, Davin, Holly, Aubrey, Ethan, Bentley, Morgan, Lincoln & Hudson.
Mom was active in the community being on the school board for years and working with the CWL for many more years. Mom was a very good seamstress and a well respected baker. She passed those talents down to her children and grandkids. Baking buns was a special talent and friends and family still bring up how good her food was.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
