It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Guran, age 68, on August 23, 2025. Larry passed away peacefully at the Biggar Long-Term Care Facility, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, remembered for his quick-witted retorts, practical jokes, and generous spirit.
Born in Biggar, SK in 1956, Larry began life in Valley Centre before moving to Howard Powell, where he attended his first years of school. In 1969, his family moved to Biggar, and Larry continued his education until leaving school in Grade 9 to work alongside his father. He took mechanic classes in Saskatoon to learn how to repair motorcycles and snowmobiles, assisted his father on electrical jobs, and soon became skilled in all things electronic. As the family business evolved to include satellite installations, Radio Shack, and SaskTel Mobility, Larry was always at the heart of it- fixing, building, and figuring things out. In 1998, Larry and Sandy took over the business, dedicating the next 20 years to growing and expanding it until their retirement in 2018.
In 1974, Larry met the love of his life, Sandy, and the two were married in May of 1976. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. Larry poured his enthusiasm into everything he did- whether it was fatherhood, fishing, camping, golfing, or serving customers. Known as a true “MacGyver,” there was little he couldn’t fix or invent a way around. Even as health issues and surgeries filled his later years, Larry never lost his optimism or sense of humor.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters and their families: Corinne Guran; Kim (Mike) Bartsch and their sons, Emmett and Kody; and Tanya (Michael) Hébert and their children, Chloe, Xander, Willow, and River. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Agnes Guran.
We invite you to share your memories at Larry’s Celebration of Life on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Biggar Community Hall.
