Larry Steven Tavanetz

Larry Tavanetz passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, surrounded by family, leaving behind many treasured memories with family and friends.

Born on November 12, 1951, in Biggar, Larry dedicated 35 years of service to Canadian National Railway before enjoying a busy retirement.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Gail; daughter Genni (Kaare) Gunderson and their children Reid and Tait; and son Clarke Tavanetz (Yvona Zapshala). Larry was a proud grandfather who spent many miles following his grandsons to their sporting events.

Larry and Gail enjoyed spending time in Arizona during the winter months. Larry loved golfing, hunting, fishing, watching sports, and especially time spent at Keeley Lake with family.

Also left to mourn are his sister Paulette; brother Doug (Glenna); brothers-in-law Keith (Deb) and Doug (Jean) Silvernagle; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice Tavanetz; his in-laws, Gabe and Doreen Silvernagle; and brother-in-law Wilfred Pehl.

As per Larry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan in support of the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
