Leonard John Kobelsky Obituary

It is with immense sadness that the family of Leonard Kobelsky announce his passing on June 4, 2025.  Family grieving his loss are his wife, Anita; son Mark (Lynette) and daughters Sandra (Brad) and Sharlene (Spencer); grandchildren Nolan, Marissa, Lucas, Avery, and Rylan.

Leonard John Kobelsky was born on June 30, 1946 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, to parents, Leo and Angie Kobelsky.  He had eight siblings: Phyllis, Brian, Delroy, Laura, Shirley, Maynard, David, and Lynette.

Growing up, Leonard attended school in Leipzig and always told the story how he was the only boy in his grad class. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan in the college of agriculture.

Dad met mom through his brother Brian at a local small town ball tournament.  They were married on August 8, 1970.  Their love story went on for 54 years.  Leonard and Anita welcomed Mark in 1971, Sandra in 1973, and Sharlene in 1977.

Leonard faced many health challenges throughout his life.  He had a successful 5-way heart by-pass surgery in 2004 and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2008, not to mention the family trait of high cholesterol.  Despite these difficulties, Dad’s priority was family and faith.  When his health forced him to retire early, he then did what he could to help the family farm.

Dad worked hard to provide the best opportunities for his family, as a manager with SAMA for 35 years and then as a part-time farmer.  Dad was a kind and loving man. Everyone who knows Leonard knew him to be very knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, a handyman: be it fixing or woodworking and enjoyed his company. We will miss him greatly.

Leonard was predeceased by his sister Laura; brothers-in law John Keller, Al Johnston, Denis Adams and Ray Wirachosky, grandson Leo Kobelsky; and Parents; Leo and Angie Kobelsky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday June 10th at 10:30 am at St. Paschal Roman Catholic Church, in Leipzig Saskatchewan.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Parkinson Canada.
