It is with heavy hearts that we announce Linda’s passing on Dec 13, 2025 in Unity, SK with her family by her side. She passed away peacefully at Unity Health Center, after her long and courageous battle with cancer.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Donald Volk and their children: Elisa (Chad) Bast and their children Pearson, Jade, Harrison and Benson; Christa (Corie) Volk; Tanya (Michael) Johnson and their children Layne, Warren and Link; Trena (Stevin) Van Nest and their children Sawyer and Noah.
Also left to honour her memory are her sisters: Zelpha (Neil) Rolph, Elna Strain and Elaine (Dave) Fox, mother-in-law Lena Volk, sisters-in-law: Sharon (Vern) Anderson, Carla (Clarence) Obrigewitch, bothers-in-law: Darrell (Marianne) Volk, Lorne (Bernie) Volk and Les (Charlotte) Volk, Uncle Gordon Neigum, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Elizabeth Neigum, father-in-law Anthony Volk, Baby Bast, her brother John Neigum, brother-in-law Norman Strain, and special aunt to her, Sally Neigum.
Linda was the second daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Neigum. She was raised on the family farm just South of Unity. She attended school in Unity, and in her later teenage years met her future husband Don. She worked numerous different jobs in town such as the elevator, the Sears store, and the job she enjoyed most, the Country Pantry for 18 years. Linda married Don on Sept 20, 1974 in Unity. They welcomed 4 daughters Elisa, Christa, and twins Tanya and Trena. Linda and Don built their family home on the acreage parcel of the Neigum family farm in 1985. Here they spent their lifetime together of 51 years raising their family and grandchildren.
After retiring Linda had ample time to enjoy the things she loved. Working in her garden and flowerbeds brought joy to her heart. Other pastimes included crocheting, canning, cooking, baking and camping. Linda had many loves including her grandchildren, who lit up her eyes. Her love for family and time with them was what she cherished most.
Linda will fondly be remembered for her smile, her kindness, and the love she had for her family. Although Linda’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, may her memory be a blessing and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. May her light forever shine brightly in our hearts.
Following the interment, please join the family downstairs for refreshments and dainties.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, staff at the Unity Health Center, and the staff at Downtown Medical Clinic, for the exceptional care and compassion mom received. Thank you to Father Matthew for his spiritual guidance and prayers.
