Lorne Richard Sutherland

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother Lorne Richard Sutherland after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 73.

Lorne, of Biggar, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 21st in Palliative Care at the Biggar Hospital. 

Born on February 19, 1953, in Biggar, Saskatchewan to Murray and Bernice Sutherland.  Lorne grew up in Biggar and attended Biggar High School.  He went on to work for the Canadian National Railway, where he continued his long career up until his retirement. 

Lorne was known for his unwavering dedication to his family.  He had a passion for music, and a vinyl record collection that was truly remarkable.  He had a big heart, a quirky sense of humour, and loved many dogs over his lifetime. 

He loved golfing, fishing, photography and camping.  He spent many years at Turtle Lake and most recently Loon Lake where he enjoyed the summer golfing with his many friends and son.  He also enjoyed many years with his bandmates of the local band Touch of Grey.

Lorne is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Cheryl, son Keane (Meagan), brothers Larry (Rita) and Brad, in-laws Terry (Christine) Christianson and Judy (Ed) Christianson as well as many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Murray, mother Bernice, in laws Orvis and Audrey Christianson, his sister-in-law Penny Sutherland, and nephew Joseph. 

One of his final wishes was to recognize the wonderful care he got from the Biggar Hospital, Biggar Homecare, Prairie Oxygen and great support from Regal Motors Ltd. 

At Lorne’s request there will be no service.
