Nettie - Beebe

Mom grew up on a family farm in the Arlee district. She attended the small rural school of Elwel from kindergarten to grade ten and then attended Arlee School whereby she obtained her Grade 12.  She continued on to complete her certificate as a Practical Nurse on February 26, 1953 and was subsequently employed at the Biggar Union Hospital.

Mom and Dad were married alongside of her sister Dinah and brother-in-law Wilf in May of 1955. Both couples started their family immediately and mom stayed home to care for us.

Mom loved curling and played with the Legion Ladies as well as a being a member. She like to called Bingo for the Legion on Saturdays and always enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, working out word puzzles, gardening, and watching a good game of hockey. She was also active with the United Church and helped whenever she could with fowl suppers and funeral lunches.

When dad retired, they purchased a cabin at Weyakwin, SK. They spent many days there, where they had a good garden, did lots of fishing and getting together with their lake friends.

Many years later they made the decision to sell the cabin and stay home in Biggar. They made a few trips to visit family but as dad’s health was starting to fail, they preferred to stay close to home. Mom however continued to make perogies, cabbage rolls, and all the goodies we liked and this filled her days with joy.

We were fortunate she was able to stay in her own home until her 91st birthday on June 22, 2021. Mom then moved to the lodge in Biggar for a very short period of time, then quickly fell ill.

Step children - Bob; Sylvia (Keith) children Kent, Clark (Elizabeth) children Nickolas, Terrel, Marshall, and Madisson.
Nettie was predeceased by her loving husband Calvin; son Bruce; grandson Cote; great granddaughter Matilde; brothers Walter and Bill.
