In Loving Memory of Perry John Balon
January 19, 1959 – June 30th, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Perry John Balon on June 30, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and compassion. Perry was a devoted father, proud grandfather, beloved brother, uncle, loyal friend and neighbor.
Perry's life is lovingly remembered by his daughters Kendall and Taylor (Chad), grand children Sutton and Reese. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Susan) and their sons Mathew and Trent, his sister Donna, and Kerri—the mother of his daughters. He will be deeply missed by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Elsie and Nick Balon, brother Randall Balon, father-in-law Reg Warwick, mother-in-law Helen Warwick and his beloved dog Sydney.
Born on January 19, 1959, in Wakaw Saskatchewan, Perry was the third child of Nick and Elise Balon. He spent his early years on the family farm near Bonne Madone before the family relocated to Saskatoon in the late 1960s. He attended Brevoort Park Elementary and Walter Murray Collegiate, where he discovered his passion for mechanics, machining, and motorcycles—interests that would shape the rest of his life.
Perry became a journeyman machinist, eventually taking his expertise to the University of Saskatchewan’s Physics Department, where he served as Supervisor of the Machine Shop. He had an incredible gift for problem-solving, always choosing the most precise, intricate approach to his work. A true perfectionist, Perry took immense pride in everything he built or repaired.
Throughout his life, Perry was blessed with deep and meaningful friendships—some spanning from childhood to his final days. In later years, as life presented more challenges, his circle grew smaller but more tightly knit. Those who remained stood by him with unwavering love, offering support, compassion, and genuine care. We are especially grateful for the friends and neighbors who checked in on him and supported him through both the joyful and difficult moments of his life.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Perry’s memory may do so by donating to Sunshine Service Dogs, an organization that provides Psychiatric Support Service Dogs at no cost to those in need, or to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Saskatchewan Division.
Please join us to celebrate Perry’s life with a short memorial service on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Gordie Howe Event Centre. All who knew and loved Perry are welcome to attend, share memories, and help us honor a life well-lived.
