Cowlishaw, Stanley Ernest – May 16, 1933 – May 9, 2022. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing. Stan was the only child of Ernest Cowlishaw & Ida (Edwards) who emigrated from England to Canada in 1913 & 1926. Stan married Ellen (Bullock) in 1955. They farmed 8 miles north and 1 mile east of Biggar, (property originally purchased in 1940 by Stan’s parents so he could be closer to the Monarch School, which he began to attend when he was eight years old). He is predeceased by Ellen (1998).
Stan is survived by his children Glenda (Wayne), Biggar; Donna (Gary), Ottawa; & Wes (Kelly), Martensville; grandchildren – Brenden (Melaniya), Amy, Grant and step-grandchildren Allie and Leah, plus several in-laws, nieces & nephews. Stan was predeceased by his wife Ellen (1998) and his parents Ernest & Ida Cowlishaw.
Stan farmed for 65 years (growing grain crops and raising cattle & chickens) but recently moved to a house in town. Stan curled with neighbours John Yaroshko, Charlie Weibel, and Bill Kurbis for many winters. He was a proud supporter of businesses in the Town of Biggar and community involvement included canvassing for natural gas to be connected to a large number of yard sites north of town.
