Tedford John Bowey passed away on April 2nd, 2021 at the age of 88 at Poplar Courts, Wilkie Health Centre, Wilkie, Sask., after a brief illness
Ted was born in Unity, Sask. to Melvin (Pat) and Elsie Bowey on Nov. 2, 1932 and grew up on the family farm at Rutland, Sask. He attended school at Rutland and Senlac before embarking on his own farming career that was to occupy him for most of his life. Like so many others of his generation, Ted saw a multitude of changes in his lifetime, from growing up in the dirty thirties and getting to and from school on horseback, to farming with horses, then tractors and other modern machinery. Dad loved farming - he would often remark “All I ever wanted to do was farm”. And farm he did . He was so proud to achieve the milestone of seeding fifty crops, then surpass that by a few more.
On August 14, 1954, Ted and Rita Winmill of the Floral district were married and enjoyed 62 years together until Rita’s passing in 2016. Two children were born, Judith Ann in 1955, deceased in 2018, and John Thomas in 1959.
Ted was an individual with many talents and skills and will be missed by many. He is survived by son John (Sheila); grandson Jason (Emma), great granddaughter Naomi; and grandson Kyle.
